Young Professionals Committee (YPSC)

About

The CCUSNA Young Professionals Subcommittee (YPSC) is a sub-committee of the CCUSNA Committee, established as a pilot initiative in 2026.

The YPSC delivers a small number of targeted young-professional events each year and supports CCUSNA’s conferences and workshops. It is intentionally small, with three to four members drawn from across CCUSNA’s member organisations and a deliberate spread of disciplines.

What we do

(a)   Deliver targeted young-professional events including knowledge-sharing sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities, often co-hosted with the YP networks of allied societies.

(b)   Provide volunteer support for CCUSNA conferences, workshops and other events.

(c)   Review CCUSNA submissions and whitepapers for clarity and accessibility before publication.

(d)   Promote CCUSNA Committee-approved content to professional networks.

(e)   Provide administrative support for CCUSNA events on request.

Who can join

The YPSC is open to professionals with a CCUSNA membership / employed by a CCUSNA member organisation who satisfy at least one of the following:

(a)   are under 35 years of age; or

(b)   have fewer than five years’ experience working in or on CCUS.

Membership is small (three to four members) and intentionally drawn from across disciplines: engineering, environmental science, government and policy, legal, commercial, project delivery, finance and others. Members serve a 12-month term.

An important note on context

Australia’s CCUS industry is at an early stage of development, and full-time specialist roles remain limited. The YPSC is a knowledge-sharing and engagement vehicle, not a recruitment or careers programme. It is designed to help early-career professionals build connections across the CCUSNA network and contribute to the work of the sector. It does not represent an abundance of dedicated CCUS roles to be filled.
