Following requests from industry and recognition within the Departmentof Mines and Petroleum, in March 2022 the Minister, Bill Johnston approved the drafting of a West Australian GHG storage and Transport Bill. That bill was passed by the WA Parliament in May 2024. In May 2026, the regulations that describe how GHG transport and storage will operate in WA were approved. This four year journey included extensive and positive consultation with industry and representative bodies like the CCUSNA. The CCUSNA is very happy to have Pat Boss from DMPE share details of the regulations, along with Mark Trupp who will share some perspectives of industry and the CCUSNA.
