In February 2026, CCUSNA will host an invitation‑only workshop, “What are the opportunities and challenges associated with developing a multi-user CCUS hub in WA (for Kwinana, Mid-West and the Pilbara regions)”
In the lead‑up to the workshop, CCUSNA is running a series of webinars for workshop participants, as well as for the broader community of CCUSNA members and subscribers.
These sessions will explore three key themes:
- Setting the scene
- A deeper dive into each region
- Global examples of operational and developing hubs
This webinar will look at Hubs Examples: Teesside. Dr Gari Harris from the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (Teesside) will provide an overview of the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre, part of the innovative Teesside University network, and will also present an overview of the Teesside Hub (or cluster).
This webinar will be held on Monday 9 February 2026 at 4pm Perth time. Note: the time has been shifted from our usual timeslot to accommodate our international guest speaker. Recordings will be made available for those who cannot make this time.

Dr Gari Harris is the Director of the Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC) and brings a wealth of relevant and extensive experience from both industry and academia. With a distinguished Professorial role at Dundee University in nanomaterials and a recent tenure as the head of British Steel’s global Research and Development effort, Gari’s expertise spans a broad spectrum.
Gari’s strategic portfolio showcases his visionary leadership, with a strong focus on driving decarbonisation strategies, shaping net-zero roadmaps, promoting waste utilisation and circular economy principles, integrating supply chains, and championing the transformative power of Industry 4.0
Drawing upon this rich background, Gari guides NZIIC in realising its vision for a sustainable future. With his leadership at the helm, the NZIIC are poised to revolutionise the industry landscape and spearhead the transition to a net-zero economy.
